Northwest General Hospital has a well-developed and fully equipped Cardiology Department which offers all kinds of cardiac consultations and procedures.

NWGH Coronary Care Unit (CCU) is a 6 bedded critical care facility in the cardiology department where all modern facilities are present. lt is equipped with state of the art equipment. All 6 beds are centrally monitored and invasive cardiac monitoring is available. There is another four bedded step down High Dependency Unit (HDU) facility along with the CCU. The NWGH CCU offers specialized cardiac care facilities for sick cardiac patients like Acute Myocardial Infarctions, unstable angina, Cardiac Arrhythmias and cardiogenic shock. lt also caters to those medically sick patients of other specialties who need close cardiac monitoring.

There is an on-floor facility for ECG, cardiac defibrillator and Echocardiography at the CCU and Emergency TPM is done in the attached Cath Lab. 

The CCU is staffed with three senior cardiologists, senior registrar, registrar and well-trained nursing  staff. Medical Officers and Post-Graduate Trainees work on a shift baser rota, to look after admitted patients.

CCU admissions are open 24/7 via NWGH ER department and staff is trained to receive acute chest pain patients. There is a robust system of referral for Acute Myocardial Infarction for patients who need Primary PCI.
