Northwest General Hospital has a State-of-the-Art on-site Pathology lab facility. The lab is open 24/7, serving both indoor and outdoor patients. The lab provides round-the-clock phlebotomy services for both inpatients and outpatients. To further facilitate our patients the Hospital has set up Lab Collection Points around the city. Home sample collection is also provided through the collection points, to the debilitated patients.
The lab provides the best turnaround time – two hours only – for most of the services and the lab has a completely paperless environment. All patient samples are bar coded at the time of sampling and there is Electronic tagging for every step of the sampling process to avoid any sampling error. The testing is performed by the latest and the most advanced state-of-the-art analyzers.
All analyzers are hooked up to the Hospital Information Management System (HIMS). All patients results are posted directly into the patient records, however, all patients reports are verified by our qualified Lab personnel for validation before being released to the patient records. An SMS alert is sent to the patient as soon the results are posted in HIMS. The patient can pick up their reports from the lab reception or can also easily access their reports through the website on this link.
Panic or critical values are immediately reported to the consultant or the patient for saving patients’ lives. All specialized testing is reported by highly qualified pathologists in all fields of pathology i.e. Histopathology, Hematology, Microbiology, and Chemical Pathology.
During the recent global COVID-19 pandemic, the NWGH Lab prides itself on establishing the state-of-the-art BSL 2 Molecular Lab for COVID-19 testing.
Our blood bank and blood transfusion services cater to the need of our patients by providing all blood products with safe blood transfusion practice. All blood donors are screened thoroughly before blood donation.
