Laparoscopic Gynaecology Workshop: Advancing Minimal Access Surgery

A workshop on Laparoscopic Gynaecology was conducted on 9th May 2023 conducted by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Northwest General Hospital and Research Center. The workshop was organised in close collaboration with the Department of Surgery, Khyber Teaching Hospital. Prof. Dr. Sidra Jabbar Khan, Consultant, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Prof. Dr. Mehr-un-Nisa, Consultant, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, NWGH and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Zarin, Professor, Bariatric Surgery, KTH, and Consultant, Laparoscopic Surgeon, NWGH and Dr. Muhammad Imran, Assistant Professor of Surgery & General, KTH presided the workshop as master trainers.
The focus of the workshop was Minimal Access Surgery, an evolving branch of surgery that the surgeons of tomorrow, of all specialities, must be well acquainted with, and adequately trained in.
The purpose was to provide a platform for knowledge and training, for PGTs and specialists, alike. The itinerary included lectures on relevant topics and were followed by live surgeries performed by the trainers, for the benefit of the 75 attendees. The workshop culminated with an interactive, hands-on session for the participants, which was conducted on endotrainers at six stations.
