The Neuromonitoring in Severe Traumatic Brain Injury course held on the 23rd of February, 2024 was an enlightening event led by distinguished course director, Dr. Kashif Sultan and keynote speakers including Prof. Naveed Ashraf and Prof. Randall Chesnut and Prof. Robert J. Dempsey, international faculty members who delivered insightful lectures on the topic. The facilitators for the course for the ICP station included Dr. Nabeel Chaudhry and Dr. Kashif Sultan while those for the microdialysis station consisted of Prof. Syed Shahzad Hussain Shah and Dr. Ghulam Naseer Uddin. The national faculty for the course comprised of Prof. Tariq Khan, Prof. Fauzia Sajjad, Prof. Naveed Ashraf and Prof. Syed Shahzad Hussain Shah.
During the event, Dr. Kashif Sultan, Prof. Syed Shahzad Hussain Shah, and Dr. Ghulam Naseer Uddin highlighted pathophysiological changes in TBI patients and the benefits of multimodal neuro monitoring. Morning sessions covered ICP anatomy, neuromonitoring, and cerebral microdialysis in SAH and brain tumours. Prof. Naveed Ashraf’s overview on cerebral microdialysis preceded hands-on training in ICU data assessment. The day concluded with a dynamic panel discussion, providing attendees with valuable insights.
