Dr. Syed Sarmad Bukhari is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Northwest General Hospital and Research Center, Peshawar and Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Northwest School of Medicine. Dr. Sarmad is formally trained in the management of a wide spectrum of neurosurgical diseases of the brain and spine including brain and spine tumours, head injury, aneurysms of the brain vessels, back pain, spine surgery, spine fixation and brain endoscopy amongst others. Dr. Sarmad is uniquely trained in the use of neuronavigation technology for brain surgery and is one of the few neurosurgeons in Peshawar capable of using it. Dr. Sarmad is also well-versed in cranial and spinal microneurosurgery.

Dr. Sarmad obtained his medical degree from the prestigious Khyber Medical College in 2013. Thereafter, he underwent preliminary training in General Surgery at Khyber Teaching Hospital followed by Neurosurgical Training at Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar. While in training he was selected for the Neurosurgery Residency Programme at Aga Khan University, Karachi, where he trained with world-renowned neurosurgeons and was awarded the “Excellence in Research Award”. Following the completion of his residency in 2021, he was appointed as a Clinical Instructor at the Aga Khan University for one year.

Dr. Sarmad is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and serves as a reviewer for several medical journals. Dr. Sarmad has the privilege of spending time in several international Neurosurgical Centers in the USA and New Zealand.
