Breastfeeding Advocacy Seminar at NWGH

The Nutrition Department Northwest General Hospital, in collaboration with the DGHS-KP Nutrition Cell and UNICEF, successfully organized a Breastfeeding Advocacy Seminar to mark World Breastfeeding Month 2025.

The event began with an awareness walk highlighting the importance of breastfeeding for maternal and child health, followed by an engaging seminar moderated by Miss Warda.

Key highlights included:

Dr. Bilal Ahmad Sethi (Consultant Neonatologist & Paediatrician, NWGH & RC) spoke on “Empowering Mothers: Motivating for Successful Breastfeeding”, stressing the role of antenatal visits in preparing mothers.

Miss Salma Khatoon (UNICEF Representative) shared UNICEF’s continued commitment to promoting and supporting breastfeeding.

Dr. Mehr un Nisa (Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, NWGH & RC) emphasized the need for breastfeeding education during pregnancy.

Mr. Haseeb (Provincial Coordinator, Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative) highlighted ongoing nutrition interventions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Muhammad Bakhtiar (DMS, NWGH), shield presentations to guest speakers, and a group photograph to mark the successful event. UNICEF representatives reaffirmed their pledge to continue supporting breastfeeding advocacy initiatives.
