Vaccine Awareness Symposium and Typhoid Vaccination Campaign

The Medical Professional Education Deanery (MPED), in collaboration with the Department of Pediatrics, Northwest General Hospital & Research Center (NWGH&RC), Peshawar, organized a Symposium on “Vaccine Awareness” on 19th June 2026 to highlight the vital role of immunization in protecting healthcare workers and the community from preventable diseases.

The symposium focused on the importance of vaccines in reducing the burden of infectious diseases, improving public health outcomes, and safeguarding frontline healthcare professionals. Speakers addressed evidence-based vaccination practices and emphasized the need to combat vaccine hesitancy through awareness, education, and advocacy.

The event was attended by consultants, postgraduate trainees, TMOs, house officers, and nursing staff. Demonstrating the hospital’s commitment to preventive healthcare, a free Typhoid Vaccination Campaign was conducted alongside the symposium. Healthcare professionals from across the institution received typhoid vaccination, reinforcing the message that prevention remains one of the most effective tools in protecting both healthcare workers and patients.

The campaign’s theme, “I Am Vaccinated Against Typhoid – Are You?”, encouraged staff members to lead by example and promote vaccination awareness within the wider community. The active participation of senior consultants and healthcare professionals reflected NWGH & RC’s dedication to fostering a safe, healthy, and resilient healthcare environment.

Through such initiatives, MPED and NWGH&RC continue to advance preventive healthcare, professional development, and patient safety while strengthening a culture of evidence-based medical practice.
