Northwest General Hospital Showcasing Neurosurgical Innovation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The annual Research and Update in Neurosurgery meeting was successfully held on 22 January 2026 at Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar. The event brought together representatives from 11 neurosurgical institutions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, providing a valuable platform for academic exchange, collaboration, and advancement in neurosurgical practice.
Residents and consultants from neurosurgery departments across the province presented on recent advances and ongoing research in neurosurgery. These presentations were followed by engaging and interactive question-and-answer sessions, fostering meaningful academic discussion. Faculty members from across KP played a pivotal role in strengthening resident education and promoting a culture of academic excellence.
Northwest General Hospital takes particular pride in the contribution of Dr. Naqibullah, who presented on endoscopic suturectomy and shared two clinical cases demonstrating this advanced minimally invasive pediatric neurosurgical technique. This procedure is currently practiced exclusively at Northwest General Hospital in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and represents a novel technique locally introduced by Dr. Adnan Khan, Pediatric Neurosurgeon at NWGH—underscoring the hospital’s leadership in neurosurgical innovation.
The conference was honored by the presence of Dr. Tariq Khan Hashim as the Chief Guest and concluded with the distribution of certificates and awards to speakers and faculty in recognition of their academic contributions.
At Northwest General Hospital, we remain committed to innovation, education, and clinical excellence, and are proud to contribute to the advancement of neurosurgical care and training in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
