Symposium on Enox in VTE Prevention

The Medical Professional Education Deanery (MPED), in collaboration with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Northwest General Hospital & Research Centre (NWGH&RC), Peshawar, arranged a one-day symposium on “Enox Role in VTE” on 19th September 2025.

Venous thromboembolism (VTE), which includes deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), is a serious global health concern, affecting nearly 10 million people each year. Research highlight that Pregnant and postpartum women face a 4–5 times higher risk compared to non-pregnant women, with an incidence of 0.71 per 1000 pregnancies. Effective preventive strategies, including the use of anticoagulant therapy, are therefore important in safeguarding maternal health.

During the symposium, speakers highlighted the clinical importance of ‘Enox’ in reducing VTE risk among high-risk obstetric patients. They shared current evidence, practical guidelines, and case-based discussions, followed by an interactive Q&A session that allowed participants to engage in meaningful dialogue.

The event was well-received by clinicians, postgraduate trainees, house officers and medical students, who appreciated the academic initiative of MPED and the Department of OBGYN. The program underscored the vital role of VTE prevention in improving maternal outcomes and reinforced NWGH&RC’s commitment to advancing evidence-based clinical practice.
