4th PACVTS Chapter Symposium at NWGH

The 4th PACVTS Chapter Symposium / Grand Round was successfully held on June 28, 2025, at Northwest General Hospital (NWGH) in Peshawar. The event was inaugurated by Malik Abul Latif Awan, Chief Executive, Alliance Healthcare Private Limited, and expertly organized by Dr. Shehzad. The symposium brought together renowned faculty consultants, postgraduate trainees, and surgical registrars to discuss complex congenital heart diseases, high-risk ischemic heart disease, and vascular interventions.

The academic proceedings were structured around high-yield clinical case presentations, covering topics such as staged surgical correction, CABG with adjunctive support, thoracic trauma, and hybrid vascular interventions. The event emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary teamwork, evidence-based decision-making, and mentorship in surgical care. Senior surgeons generously shared their expertise and experiences, providing valuable guidance and feedback to junior attendees.

The symposium concluded with a note of thanks and an informal consensus on future directions. The PACVTS Organizing Committee plans to implement a Provincial PACVTS Calendar for rotational academic activities, simulation-based surgical skills workshops, mentored publication forums for junior registrars, and a shared virtual academic repository for operative videos and case summaries. These initiatives aim to standardize and enrich surgical training in the region.

The PACVTS Organizing Committee extends heartfelt gratitude to NWGH’s academic leadership, faculty coordinators, presenters, and support staff for their contributions to the symposium’s success. The next Grand Rounds will be hosted by PGH Hayatabad under the leadership of Professor Dr. Abdul Malik in the coming four months.
