The inauguration ceremony for the clinic ‘Changing Diabetes in Children (CDIC)’ was held

The inauguration ceremony for the clinic ‘Changing Diabetes in Children (CDIC)’ was held on the 29th of June. Northwest Teaching Hospital became the first satellite centre to provide free insulin to Diabetic Type 1 patients aged 25 or less. The primary donor of the insulin diabetic association Vice President at Health Promotion Foundation Prof. Abdul Basit and Vice President & General Manager at Novo Nordisk attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Ms. Somaiya briefly introduced the CDIC project to the audience. Dr. Arshad Husain, Endocrinologist and Dr. Tariq Hashim, Chairman AHL, attended the ceremony and shared their vision regarding this project.
Pakistan is one of the 16 countries in which Changing Diabetes in Children (CDIC) project has taken place, intending to provide free insulin and medical care to patients 25 years or less who cannot afford it. Peshawar is the main centre for providing CDIC; however, the project aims to establish more centres in the north, south and centre of KP.
Paediatric Association of Pakistan has also expressed interest in Northwest Hospital’s CDIC centre and Novo Nordisk’s initiative for society. Dr. Tariq Hashim, Chairman AHL, presented shields to the guests. The event was concluded by signing MOU between NWGH and Novo Nordisk.
