Dr. Murad Ali
It is with profound sadness that we inform of the passing of Dr. Murad Ali, Consultant Sonologist, due to Cardiac Arrest, in the early hours of 23rd June 2021. Dr. Murad was one of the most senior members of Northwest General Hospital, and a pioneer of Ultrasound investigations in Peshawar. Dr. Murad’s passing has left a void in the Medical field, which will be very hard to fill. The Northwest General Hospital community will forever hold in gratitude the services and support of Dr. Murad Ali to the hospital, and to the people of Peshawar.
Dr. Murad Ali was Consultant Sonologist and Head of Department in the Ultrasound Department at Northwest General Hospital & Research Centre, Peshawar. In addition to diagnostic ultrasound services (including Doppler, Elastography, etc.) Dr. Murad provided ultrasound guidance to various interventional procedures.
Dr. Murad had a vast body of experience spanning more than 3 decades. He had provided ultrasound services to various teaching hospitals in Peshawar since 1984. More than 5000 renal biopsies were performed during his tenure in Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar. Dr. Murad was also active in the academic field and regularly participated in National and International Medical Missions and conferences. Dr. Murad had more than 20 publications to his credit and was the co-author of a chapter in e-medicine. Dr. Murad Ali was one of the first people to introduce diagnostic ultrasound services in Pakistan.
After completing his MBBS from Khyber Medical College in 1980, Dr. Murad received his initial training in Ultrasonography at Roseburg Radiologist OR (USA). Dr. Murad received Certification in Ultrasonography at Stadt. Krankenhaus Muenchen Harlaching at Munich, Germany. Following that, Dr. Murad did his higher specialist training in Ultrasonography from University of California SF and Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia.
