Embracing Nutrition Beyond the Plate: Celebrating March Nutrition Month at NWGH

The Nutrition Department celebrated March Nutrition Month at Northwest General Hospital in collaboration with different pharmaceutical companies. The goal was to raise awareness about the importance of nutrition at every stage of life. This year’s theme, “Beyond the Table,” emphasised nutrition beyond what’s on our plates. Mindful eating involved expressing gratitude for food, slowing down, and enjoying meals without judgment or distractions.
The celebration highlighted the impact of nutrition, focusing on more than just the food we eat. It encouraged people to consider how overall mental health, lifestyle, habits, and understanding of nutrition affect well-being. The event also addressed the farm-to-fork aspect, covering food production, distribution, navigating grocery stores, farmers’ markets, and promoting sustainability.
The event began with an awareness walk, followed by a group picture, a cake cutting ceremony, and the display of food models representing Ramadan diets for sehri and iftar. A variety of nutrition games were organised, and winners were presented with gifts.
